Give me discernment. Help me see things the way You see them — not through the lens of my fear, my pride, or my impatience. Let me choose the path that honors You, even when it’s not the easiest one.

I trust Your wisdom more than my own instincts. Show me what to do next.

How to Seek Wisdom in Decision-Making

– Study Scripture. The Bible’s principles — love, justice, humility, integrity, generosity — provide a framework for evaluating your options when in doubt.
– Seek wise counsel. Talk to people who have walked a similar path and who will tell you the truth even when it’s uncomfortable, not just what you want to hear.
– Test your motives. Honestly examine why you want what you want — is it driven by love and service, or by fear, pride, or the desire to impress others?
– Wait for clarity. If you’re confused, it may mean you need more time, more information, or more prayer — rushing a decision out of anxiety is rarely wise.

What the Bible Says About Wisdom

“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” — James 1:5

God doesn’t scold you for not knowing or make you earn wisdom — He gives it freely and abundantly to anyone who asks in faith.

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” — Proverbs 9:10

Wisdom starts with reverence — recognizing God’s greatness and approaching Him with humility is the foundation of every wise decision.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6

Your understanding is limited by your experience and biases — submitting your ways to God means inviting Him into every decision, and He will make your paths clear.
