A prayer for strength — for when you’re running on empty and don’t know where the next bit of energy will come from.

A Prayer for When You’re Running on Empty

Lord, I’m tired. Not the kind of tired that sleep fixes — the deep, bone-level exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long.

I don’t have the strength to keep going on my own. So I’m asking for Yours. Fill me up when I’m empty. Hold me up when my legs are shaking. Give me one more day, one more hour, one more step.

You don’t just give strength. You are strength. And I need You.

Amen.

A Prayer for When You Feel Like Giving Up

God, I’m close to the edge. I’ve been fighting for so long and I’m not sure I have anything left. The temptation to quit is real and it’s loud.

Please remind me why I started. Give me a reason to keep going that’s bigger than my fatigue. And when I can’t see the finish line, help me trust that it’s still there.

I don’t have to be strong enough on my own. Your strength is enough for both of us.

Amen.

Finding Strength in God

God’s strength is available to you in several ways:

Through Scripture. God’s Word is living and active. Reading it infuses your spirit with strength and perspective.
Through prayer. Prayer is not just asking — it’s receiving. When you pray, you tap into God’s power.
Through community. Other believers can strengthen you when you’re too weak to stand on your own.
Through rest. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is stop. God gives strength through rest.

What the Bible Says About Strength

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.” — Isaiah 40:31

Hoping in the Lord renews strength — fresh strength for a new season.

“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” — Philippians 4:13

In context, Paul is talking about enduring hardship. God’s strength enables you to endure whatever comes.

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.” — Psalm 28:7

God is both strength and shield — the power to move forward and the protection to stay safe.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

God’s strength is ever-present. It’s available right now.

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9

God’s power works through your weakness. Your weakness is where His strength shines brightest.

Daily Practices for Building Strength

Strength is something you build through daily habits:

Start your day with Scripture. Read a passage about strength and courage before checking your phone.
Practice gratitude. Gratitude strengthens emotional resilience by shifting focus from what you lack to what you have.
Serve someone else. Serving others when you’re weak is paradoxically strengthening.
Memorize strength verses. Having verses stored in memory gives you immediate access to God’s promises during crisis.
