Sickness strips away a lot. It can strip your energy, your independence, your sense of the future. And it can leave you asking the hardest questions: Why? How long? Will God heal this?

The Bible is honest about these questions. It doesn’t promise that every illness will be healed on this side of heaven. But it does promise that God is present in suffering, that He is moved by our pain, and that healing — in some form — is always available. James 5:14 says: “Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord.” Prayer and healing belong together in Scripture.

1. A Simple Prayer for Physical Healing

Lord Jesus, You are the Great Physician. I come to You today with my body — with what is broken, what is sick, what is in pain. You know this body better than any doctor. You knit it together in the womb. I ask for Your healing touch now. Where there is disease, bring health. Where there is pain, bring relief. Where there is weakness, bring strength. I believe You can heal. I trust You whether You do it quickly or slowly, here or in eternity. But today I ask. Please heal me. In Your name, Amen.

2. Prayer for Healing for a Loved One

Father, I bring someone I love to You right now. I can’t take their pain away. I can’t fix this. But You can. You are the God who heals — Jehovah Rapha — and I ask You to heal them. Touch their body with Your healing power. Give wisdom to their doctors and strength to their caregivers. Give them peace when they’re afraid and hope when they’re discouraged. Let them feel Your presence in every hospital room, every treatment, every hard day. And give me the faith to keep bringing them to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
