Lord, my parent is getting older and it’s hard to watch. They’re losing their strength, their memory, their independence — pieces of them that made them who they are.

Please comfort them in this season. Give them dignity as they navigate the things they can no longer do for themselves. Surround them with people who treat them with respect and patience.

Help me be a good child to them. I know I’m not always patient. I know I get frustrated. Please forgive me and help me show them the same love they showed me when I was young and helpless.

Amen.
