Lord, my marriage is ending. I never thought I would be here. The grief of it — the loss of what was, the loss of what might have been — is enormous.

Be with me in every practical and emotional dimension of this. The legal process, the financial strain, the conversations with children if there are any, the sleepless nights. Show up in all of it.

Help me not to become bitter. Help me grieve without letting the grief harden into something that hurts me and anyone around me long after this is over. And in the places where I bear responsibility — where I played a part in what broke — give me the courage to face that honestly rather than defensively.

I want to come through this with my integrity and my faith intact.

Prayer After Divorce (For Moving Forward)

God, the divorce is done. On paper, at least. But the emotional reality of it isn’t done — and I’m not sure it will be for a long time.

Help me rebuild. Not rush into the next thing, not numb myself to avoid the grief, but actually rebuild — my sense of myself, my relationships, my daily life. Help me find things that are genuinely mine in this new season.

Protect me from the lie that this failure defines me. Remind me that my story is not over. And bring people around me who will accompany me in the building of whatever comes next.
