I didn’t expect the grief. I thought I’d feel mostly relief and freedom, and there is some of that. But there’s also an unexpected emptiness. The routines that organized my days are gone. The background noise of someone needing me is gone.

Help me find myself again in this new season. Not as a parent whose primary role is daily caregiving, but as a person with purpose and presence and things yet to do and become.

Show me what this chapter holds. And be close in the adjustment.

God, I thought I was ready for this. I prepared. I told myself it was a good thing — and it is. But the reality of it is harder than I expected, and I’m not sure what to do with the feelings.
