A prayer for healing of a family member — for when someone you love is sick, hurting, or struggling, and you feel powerless to help.
A Prayer for My Sick Family Member
Lord, I’m asking for healing for someone I love. They’re going through something hard — an illness, a diagnosis, a body that isn’t working the way it should — and I feel helpless watching them suffer.
Please bring Your healing hand into their situation. Give their doctors wisdom. Give their body strength. And give them peace in the middle of all the uncertainty.
I know You can heal anything. But I also know that sometimes the answer isn’t the one we want. Whatever happens, please be close to them. Let them feel Your presence in a real, tangible way.
And please help me too. I don’t know how to be strong for them when I’m falling apart inside. Give me the right words. Give me the patience to sit with them in the hard moments without trying to fix everything.
Amen.
A Short Prayer When You’re Waiting for Test Results
“God, the waiting is the hardest part. Please bring good news. And whatever the results say, help us face them together. Amen.”

When You Don’t Know What to Say
Visiting a sick family member is awkward. You want to say something meaningful but everything feels cliché. “Everything happens for a reason” doesn’t help. “Stay positive” feels dismissive.
Sometimes the best thing you can say is: “I’m here. I love you. Let me pray with you.”
And then actually do it. Out loud. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be real.
A Prayer for Strength as a Caregiver
Father, caring for my family member is exhausting — physically, emotionally, spiritually. Some days I feel like I’m running on nothing.
Please refill me. Give me strength I don’t have on my own. Help me care for them without losing myself in the process.
Remind me that taking care of myself isn’t selfish — it’s necessary. I can’t pour from an empty cup.
Thank You for letting me be part of their healing journey, even when it’s hard.
Amen.
