for America Without Losing Your Mind Praying for America is a biblical command. It’s also, right now, emotionally complicated. The country feels divided in ways that seem unbridgeable. The political discourse is toxic. The news cycle is relentless. It’s hard to pray for “the nation” when “the nation” means very different things depending on who’s in the room. But the command is clear: > “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people — for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” > — 1 Timothy 2:1-2 All people. All those in authority. Not the ones you voted for. Not the ones whose policies you agree with.
