A prayer for addiction recovery — for anyone fighting to break free from substance abuse, compulsive behavior, or any chain that won’t let go. Honest prayers for strength, healing, and the courage to ask for help.
A Prayer for Recovery
Lord, I’m addicted and I can’t break free on my own. I’ve tried. I’ve promised myself I’d stop, and then I’m right back where I started. I’m tired of the cycle and I’m tired of the shame.
Please give me the strength to stay clean today. Just today. Send me the right people, the right resources, the right moment of clarity that keeps me from going back.
I need help and I’m finally admitting it. Please meet me here.
Amen.
A Prayer for When You Relapse
God, I fell back into it. I’m disappointed in myself and I feel like I’ve let everyone down — including You. The voice in my head says I’m hopeless, but I know that’s not true.
Please don’t let this relapse define me. Help me get back up. Recovery isn’t a straight line and I need Your grace for the stumble as much as for the success.

I’m not giving up. Help me try again.
Amen.

Why This Prayer Matters
Prayer isn’t about getting the words perfect — it’s about showing up honestly. Whether you’re facing this situation for the first time or the hundredth time, bringing it to God changes something in you. It shifts the weight from your shoulders to His. Use this prayer as a starting point, then let your own words flow from there.
