Evening Prayer: A Prayer to End Your Day and Rest in Peace
Apr 29, 2026·3 min
An evening prayer — for when the day is done and you need to hand it all over to God before sleep. Short, calming prayers to close your day with gratitude and release.
An Evening Prayer for Today
Lord, the day is over. I’m handing it back to You — the good parts and the bad, the things I accomplished and the things I didn’t, the words I’m proud of and the ones I wish I could take back.
Thank You for getting me through. For the moments of grace I noticed and the ones I missed. For the people who crossed my path and the lessons I learned, even the hard ones.
Now I need rest. Quiet my mind. Let me sleep without replaying the day or worrying about tomorrow. I’m safe in Your hands tonight.
Amen.
A Short Prayer Before Bed
“God, thank You for today. Forgive me for where I fell short. Watch over me and my family tonight. Let me wake up refreshed and ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Amen.”

Why This Prayer Matters
Prayer isn’t about getting the words perfect — it’s about showing up honestly. Whether you’re facing this situation for the first time or the hundredth time, bringing it to God changes something in you. It shifts the weight from your shoulders to His. Use this prayer as a starting point, then let your own words flow from there.
